Founders Ron & Peggy Weiss and Jeffrey Weinberger are native Texans and graduates of the University of Texas in Austin. While enjoying the excitement of being in the forefront of the city's culinary development, they have remained deeply rooted in the community. Their style of relaxed yet visionary enterprise not only expresses the best of the heart of Texas, but is sought out on the national stage as well. Peggy and Ron, along with then Executive Chef David Garrido, were invited to prepare the Jeffrey's menu during the last Inaugural celebration in Washington, D.C. Their signature dish of "Crispy Oysters" was served to Former President and Mrs. Carter, President and Mrs. Bush and Former President and Mrs. Bush.
The Weiss' were awarded 'Who's Who in Food & Wine in Texas' for 2001, inducted into the 'Fine Dining Hall of Fame' 2002, and selected as '2002 Top 10 Restaurateurs of the Year'. This fall, they will receive the prestigious Dirona Award: Distinguished Restaurants of North America.
The enduring success of Jeffrey's led the Weiss' to establish several other restaurant concepts: Shoreline Grill on Austin's Town Lake, Cipollina Italian Bistro, and O's Campus Cafe, on the U.T. campus. Their hallmark remains great food enveloped in inviting, unique atmospheres, where every customer is treated as if they are dining in their own home.
